Sledge Hammer...

Bike's name:

White Lightning and Black Magic.

Where did you grow up?

Mostly Atlanta. But I spent some time in Chicago, Michigan, Minnesota, and New Jersey.

My bikes are my only children.

First triathlon:

Eleven series Lake Oconee [local GA oly that no longer exists..]  5/13/13

Why did you get into triathlon?

Mostly peer pressure and a stint with too much time on my hands :) Also to meet like-minded people while staying in shape.

Goal for 2017:

Qualify for 70.3 Worlds.

Favorite Quote:

To laugh often and love much:

To win respect of intelligent people

And the affection of children;

To earn the approbation of honest critics

And endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty;

To find the best in others;

To give one's self;

To leave the world a little better,

Whether by a healthy child,

A garden patch,

Or redeemed social condition;

To have played and laughed with enthusiasm

And sung with exultation;

To know even one life has breathed easier

Because you have lived...

This is to have succeeded.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Strange race habits or rituals?

Not that I can think of. I guess it's just strange that I don't have rituals. Nor typically things like nutrition plans. Nor all of the items I intend to have... I'm probably the least Type-A individual in the triathlon world.

Favorite food:

Peanut butter.

Coffee or Tea:

Would you rather be a dog named killer or a cat named fluffy?

Dog, duh. Ask me about my theory on cats..

If you could spend one day with anyone (dead or living) who would it be?

John Stuart. And/or Anthony Bourdain. Go somewhere like an airport and people watch, making sarcastic comments.

What does #BeAVixxen mean to you?

Until I read the Vixxen mission statement, I hadn't actively thought about my personal mission as it relates to triathlon. Upon reflection, I realize my principles in triathlon greatly reflect Vixxen's. Namely, to give and receive encouragement, support and challenges to others so as to cultivate our best selves individually and collectively; to embody humility and appreciate the individuality of successes and failures of others; to serve as an example of positivity and optimism; and to better myself daily so as to be able to help others more richly.

One thing that most people don't know about you?

I see dead people. JK! Ummm I guess I'm an open book...
