The Captain

Bike's name:

Where did you grow up?

Charleston, SC

Goose, springer spaniel. Drake and Bean, Chihuahuas

First triathlon:

Treasure Island Triathlon in San Francisco

Why did you get into triathlon?

I was looking for a way to make running more fun.

Goal for 2017:

To have fun, to race to my potential, and to give back to the sport that has given so much to me.

Favorite Quote:

1) "I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it."

and for fun 2) "Because I was inverted"

Biggest Inspiration:

I know this is cheesy, but it really is Vixxen Racing. Seeing what this team has been able to do in just 1 year- the friendships and bonds that have been created inspire me to do so much more and to work so much harder.

Strange race habits or rituals?

Not that I know of- I forgot to charge my Di2 one year before a race and it died, so now I usually get about 10 text messages telling me to charge it the day before a race. I will never make that mistake again!

Favorite food:

Nutella, I love it so much I generally won't even buy it.

Coffee or Tea:

Coffee! An almond milk latte brings joy to my heart.

Would you rather be a dog named killer or a cat named fluffy?

Definitely a Chihuahua named Killer.

If you could spend one day with anyone (dead or living) who would it be?

My Grandma. She was the most amazing woman; I have never looked up to anyone as much as I did to her.

What does #BeAVixxen mean to you?

Every woman has a feisty, fiery side to her, and #BeAVixxen is all about women looking inside of themselves grabbing hold of that fire and relentlessly chasing after their goals.

One thing that most people don't know about you?

My favorite movie of all time is Mary Poppins.
