Bike's name:

Where did you grow up?

Born in Mexico City, Mexico but grew up in Columbia, MO

Dash is the dog I grew up with, who passed away in 2014. I dedicate all my training and all my races to my beloved Dashy.

First triathlon:

Missing Fort Collins Triathlon, September 6, 2014

Why did you get into triathlon?

I got into triathlon shortly after moving to Boulder in 2014. I had moved here as a travel nurse and was working evenings, which was causing me to sleep my days away until I went in to work. I decided I needed to sign up for a race in order to stay motivated to get out of bed. I'd always wanted to try a triathlon, so I signed up for the cheapest one I could find! It was a very short and very small race but I came in second in my age group and enjoyed the race so much that I became hooked and haven't looked back since!

Goal for 2017:

Qualify for and attend World Championship 70.3 in Chattanooga, TN

Favorite Quote:

No favorite quote, but my mottos is, "Life is too short, so why not ________?" In my case, I fill in the blank with triathlon, dance, stay up late, have a glass of wine, go on that trip, be crazy, etc. Spontaneity is my favorite.

Biggest Inspiration:

Dash, my doggie who will always be in my heart.

Strange race habits or rituals?

Waxing my legs before the race.

Favorite food:

Pretty much anything without meat! And cookies!

Coffee or Tea:

Both! It really depends on my mood!

Would you rather be a dog named killer or a cat named fluffy?

A dog named Dash.

If you could spend one day with anyone (dead or living) who would it be?

It would be with Dash and we would do all of his favorite things. We would go running in the woods, we'd play tug of war, we'd eat treats together, go for a long car ride with all the windows down and Dash sticking his head out, we'd take lots of naps, and do lots of cuddling, we'd run around the house playing tag, and I'd take him to a farm so he could herd sheep. I'm sure it would be the best day of my life.

What does #BeAVixxen mean to you?

#BeAVixxen = Waking up early when I don't feel like it but making the most of it anyway; training in the elements; having back to back workouts after being on my feet all day at work the same day or the day before; never giving up or giving in to excuses; making life happen and not letting life happen to me; giving anything I commit to, my all; camaraderie; having each other's backs; having a goal and doing what it takes to make it happen; smart training and smart racing; #ekendurance; empowering others to make healthy lifestyle decisions; excelling and excellence; understanding nutrition; being grateful for what I have and the ability to participate in such a grueling sport; humility!

One thing that most people don't know about you?

I don't have an appendix! Oh and I used to be as passionate about Flamenco dance as I am about Triathlon now!
